National Council of Jewish Women Celebrates Experience and Diversity  in Biden-Harris Nominees 

December 17, 2020, Washington, DC-National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Chief Executive Officer Sheila Katz released the following statement today in support of Biden-Harris nominees:

“President-elect Biden pledged to ensure his cabinet would look like America — and so far, it does. National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is pleased with the nominees who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and represent the diversity of this great nation. With his picks, President-elect Biden has chosen the very best candidates for his cabinet, people who will get to work for all Americans. Likewise, he and Vice President-elect Harris have selected highly qualified people for positions within the White House.

“In particular, NCJW looks forward to working with many of the announced Cabinet nominees to date, including:

Xavier Becerra, Health and Human Services Secretary
Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State
Pete Buttigieg, Transportation Secretary
Deb Haaland, Department of Interior

“From the first Latino head of Health and Human Services to a 35-year veteran of the foreign service who grew up in segregated Louisiana, NCJW has no doubt that the lived experiences of these nominees will inform their policy and rulemaking, ensuring that women; Black, Indigenous, and people of color; LGBTQ individuals; and immigrants are represented in critical executive decision making.

“Further, the percentage of women in senior positions throughout the administration (including an all-female Communications team) is a thrilling development. Together, the cabinet and staff nominees named to date are serious professionals, trusted figures, and essential voices at the table. They have a track record of navigating complex problems enabling them to meet the issues of the country on day one.

“Now it’s up to the Senate to put partisan politics aside and swiftly confirm the nominees so the incoming administration can fully focus on addressing the COVID pandemic.

We are grateful the Biden-Harris transition team is moving quickly to fill positions with a skilled and competent team, and look forward to working with them to realize an end to the pandemic, and a more just and equitable world.”
