NCJW Genetic Screening – A Community Health Fair

2:00 pm — 4:00 pm

Uptown JCC

This concluding session of the Knowledge Is Power series will offer genetic screening provided by the national organization, JScreen.

The National Council of Jewish Women Greater New Orleans Section is hosting ‘Give a Spit About Your Health’, a health fair for the New Orleans Jewish community. This capstone event is part of the Knowledge is Power Series, which will be held on Sunday, October 22nd from 2-4pm at the New Orleans JCC.

The Knowledge is Power Series has focused on genetics, cancer and mental health, and as such, local and national organizations relating to well-being and the cancer community will provide screenings and education. At the forefront will be JScreen, an affordable, accessible, comprehensive, saliva-based genetic screening and testing program. Their staff will be onsite to help screen individuals at the event for reproductive and cancer genetic mutations at a subsidized rate. JScreen will honor the subsidized rate even if your insurance does not cover genetic testing.

* Please note that these tests are performed using a saliva- based screening test.
